Our Italian Adventure

la vita è troppo breve per bere vino cattivo...

For five months in 2012, we moved to Montaione, Italy to live and volunteer on an organic farm producing Chianina cattle, honey, olive oil and white truffles. In addition to being a working farm, the agriturismo we lived at has three restored farmhouses nestled into the woods throughout the 1200 acre property that they rent to tourists from all over the world. Three families live and work on the farm, and luckily for us, they invited us to join their little community for the 2012 tourist season.

The beautiful place is called Fattoria Barbialla Nuova. Our duties ranged from assisting with bookings, assuring that houses were ready for guests, maintaining the vegetable garden clearing miles and miles of trails through the property, and interacting with guests at various functions.

  1. So many questions! How did you find this opportunity and how did you get it? This would be our dream scenario! Such a cool thing you two are doing and I am so excited to follow along!
