6,000 miles, down California's coast and across the heat of the U.S. South. On a journey to bring Jimmy back to New England from his program at Alderleaf Wilderness College, we took 3.5 weeks to camp, hike, eat and explore our way across the country. Loaded up with the necessary provisions, we trekked through massive sand dunes and colossal redwoods, barrels of freshly stomped reds and whites, precarious coastal cliff edges, mountain passes, impenetrable desert expanses, ghoulish bayou swamps and loads of dicey campground bathrooms.
